a) Situación: Esta provincia esta ubicada al naciente del Río Guapay.

b) Límites:
Al norte con el departamento del Beni.
Al sur con las provincias de Ichilo, Obispo Santistevan y Ñuflo de Chávez cuyo límite natural con las dos primeras es el Río Grande o Guapay.
Al este con la provincia Ñuflo de Chávez.
Al oeste con el departamento del Beni cuyo límite natural es el río San Pablo o San Miguel.

c) Superficie: 27.343 km2 ocupa el 7.3% de la superficie total del
departamento.

d) Altura: 257 m.s.n.m.

e) Población: 31.557 habitante

f) Densidad: 4.46 habitantes por km2

Esta provincia está dividida en 3 secciones municipales y cantones:
